The course includes topics on installation/upgrades of HP OpenVMS on Alpha systems, installation of layered products, in-depth queue management, standalone backup, troubleshooting, network configuration, security, accounting and cluster basics.

Provides the system manager who has been running an existing HP OpenVMS system with advanced information and skills needed to manage complex areas, such as cluster configuration and management, storage options, Galaxy concepts and troubleshooting techniques. Performance, availability and scalability are common topics throughout.
HP OpenVMS v8.3 system performance management U3727S
This hands-on, lecture/lab course presents HP OpenVMS v7.3 performance under three subsystems: memory management, I/O and CPU.
- To learn enough to perform specific HP OpenVMS system and network management functions
- To refresh and update HP OpenVMS knowledge for experienced HP OpenVMS system managers returning to HP OpenVMS
- To achieve HP OpenVMS certification by enough coverage of the certification competency model for most students to pass the three HP OpenVMS exams This training course will focus on many topics of HP OpenVMS system management, but topics will not go into the same breadth of coverage as attending the entire HP OpenVMS system management curriculum. Topics include choosing, installing, configuring and managing HP OpenVMS; network configurations (LAN, LAT, TCP/IP, DECnet Plus) HP OpenVMS clusters; HP OpenVMS storage; HP OpenVMS Galaxy and some troubleshooting. Labs will take place both in and after class, using the HP virtual lab. Students without the pre-requisite HP OpenVMS knowledge will find it difficult to maintain the instructional pace.
